Safer communities begin with the choices each of us makes every day. If you own a firearm, we invite you to join your fellow gun owners in making a simple, public commitment to responsible ownership. By taking the pledge, you help set the standard for safety in your home, at the range, and across your community.
As a responsible gun owner, I pledge to:
- Store my firearms and ammunition securely whenever they are not in use, keeping them out of the reach of children and anyone not authorized to handle them.
- Support thorough vetting and proper licensing for every firearm transfer, so that firearms remain only in the hands of those lawfully authorized to hold them.
- Exercise restraint in displaying firearms in public, recognizing that unnecessary open display can alarm others, especially children and families.
- Put safety first at all times — in my home, in the field, and at the range — and encourage the same standard in every gun owner I know.
